Free and affordable options at the Colorado State Rec Center The Student Recreation Center is Colorado State University’s hub for student fitness and exercise.

Surrounded by intramural fields, volleyball courts, and basketball courts. The Student Recreation Center is filled with all the gym equipment one could dream of. Students with over six credit hours get full access to the yoga, cardio, weights, rock climbing, swimming and more with no extra charge.

SOURCE sat down with Nick Eppley, assistant director of marketing and communication at the rec center, to discuss many of the free and affordable amenities that benefit students.

1. Outdoor activities Outside the rec, the university has volleyball courts, basketball courts, roller hockey rinks and intramural fields. These fields and activities are open to everyone, for free.

2. Four-week free workout program Signing up through the Colorado State website, you can get a four-week workout program at the rec center, for free. You can sign up for Trainerize with your email and name through the CSU rec center website. (This option contains no physical one-on-one sessions, just a program)

3. Climbing wall After a free training course, the climbing wall at the rec offers free classes, competitions and equipment checkout to students.

4. Group classes The CSU rec center offers 28 classes for CSU students. From barbell pump to bike bootcamp to kickboxing, Pilates, and more. CSU students may take any of these classes for free.

5. Daily membership A daily membership at the rec center will cost $5 per day. A cheaper alternative for students with under six credit hours who don’t want to pay for a membership.

6. Intramural sports. IM sports at the university are run through the campus rec center. To take part in IM sports, a $10 IM membership and a $45/team fee are the two things you need to have full access to IM sports during the semester.

7. CPR/AED/First Aid Training

The rec offers CPR/AED/first aid training for students and staff. You must be a full-time student to take part. These classes can cost up to $100/each.

8. Massage therapy

The CSU rec offers some of the cheapest massage therapy in all of Fort Collins. They offer 30, 60, and 90-minute massages for $49, $89, and $110.

9. Personal training

Students can receive one-on-one workouts with a personal trainer for $55. The rec offers students PT sessions (two, four, eight or 12 sessions) for a discounted price. Eppley said that “the best deal for students is four PT sessions for $126.”

10. Part-time student membership

Part-time students (under six credit hours) can get a full-access membership to the rec for $162/semester, $37/month or $20/week. Summer passes can be purchased for $105 total, $37/month, or $20/week.
